The Palash or Flame of the Forest is also called the Parrot Tree. Yet another of nature’s interesting patterns. Most other flowers in flowering trees are filled with nectar ensuring a feast for birds with long and straight beaks. The parrot however is unable to efficiently drink flower nectar because of its short curved beak. Therefore the favourite haunt of the parrot in springtime is the palash tree whose flowers are filled with insects which the parrot can easily hook out with its curved beak. No wonder then if you closely look at a palash tree in bloom you can see many parrots perched there for hours! And hence the name Parrot Tree!
